SHAUN GOSSMAN

SHAUN GOSSMAN

Kandui Team Rider | Australia

After finishing school, Shaun set out to make a career from surfing, travelling the world, competing against some of the best surfers on the planet and earning his place on the professional circuit.

Shaun became an integral member of Snapper Rocks Boardriders, one of Australia’s strongest competitive surf clubs, representing them at state and national level.

His performances on the Gold Coast earned him a reputation among Australia’s elite surfers. In 2004, Shaun won the Quiksilver Pro trials at Snapper Rocks and earned his place in the main event alongside the world's best. The following year he again won the trials and went head-to-head with surfers such as Joel Parkinson and Dean Morrison at the Quiksilver Pro.

Known for his smooth, powerful and stylish approach, Shaun continued competing at the highest level before stepping away from the world tour. His competitive fire never disappeared, and in 2019 he returned to Masters competition, winning the Queensland title before going on to become Australian Masters Champion in the 35–40 division.

Today, Shaun remains deeply connected to the Australian surfing community and continues to bring the experience of a lifetime in the water to the Kandui team.

From Durban to the Gold Coast, from the world tour to Australian competition, Shaun’s story is built around one thing — surfing.

Years in the water. Thousands of waves. Still chasing the next one.

FRANKIE OBERHOLZER

FRANKIE OBERHOLZER

Kandui Team Rider | South Africa

Frankie Oberholzer is one of South Africa’s most iconic freesurfers, with roots firmly planted in the waves of Warner Beach on the KZN South Coast.

Growing up surfing the local breaks, Frankie developed a distinctive style built around smooth lines, power and an effortless approach to wave riding. His surfing caught the attention of surf journalist and filmmaker Derek Hynd, which led to Frankie being paired with three-time world champion Tom Curren for Rip Curl’s legendary The Search campaign in the early 1990s.

Those journeys took Frankie around the world in search of waves and helped establish him as one of the defining freesurfers of his generation. Featured in a number of influential surf films throughout the 1990s, his relaxed style and ability to find and ride waves in his own way became a major part of the freesurfing movement.

Away from the spotlight, Frankie has always remained true to the simple side of surfing — chasing waves, fishing, shaping boards and enjoying life around the ocean. His connection to Warner Beach and the South African surfing community remains an important part of who he is.

A true South African surf original, Frankie represents the freedom, style and connection to the ocean that Kandui stands for.

MIKE “ROSE” ROSCOE

MIKE “ROSE” ROSCOE

Kandui Team Rider | South Africa

Born and raised around Warner Beach on South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal coast, Mike “Rose” Roscoe grew up in one of the country’s most influential surfing communities.

Alongside surfers such as Frankie Oberholzer and Gordon Turnbull, Rose became part of a generation of South Coast surfers who helped put South African surfing on the international map. Derek Hynd first took notice of Rose and Frankie as young surfers in the mid-1980s, recognising the raw talent coming out of Warner Beach.

Rose went on to compete at a high level throughout the late ’80s, ’90s and into the 2000s, travelling and competing against many of the era’s leading surfers. His competitive career included appearances on the international WQS circuit and a win at the Vodacom Surf Pro at Umhlanga Rocks.

But competition has never been the whole story for Rose. His surfing has always been driven by a deeper connection to the ocean, good waves and the people he has shared them with.

That connection continues today through Kandui. A lifelong surfer with decades of experience in the water, Rose brings an old-school South African surf heritage, a love of adventure and a genuine passion for surfing to the Kandui team.

Still surfing. Still searching. Still chasing good waves.
